Centipedes are elongated metameric creatures with one pair of legs per body segment. Like the outside world, in the realm of "Jumanji", some Centipedes are known to be highly venomous, and often inject paralyzing venom that will cause veins to pop and eventually reach the heart to kill the victim.

Behaviour[]

Centipedes are predominantly generalist predators, which means they have adapted to eat a variety of different available prey. Some species of Centipedes can be hazardous to humans because of their bite.

Appearances[]

In Gift, Judy and Peter enter "Jumanji" for Alan's birthday, enjoying their party until it is interrupted by marching Ants. Even though the trio evade the Ants in a cave, they are subsequently caught in the midst of a swarming downpour of Centipedes. One Centipede manages to land a bite on Alan's arm, injecting it's lethal venom into his veins, which will soon reach and explode his heart.

Desperate for a cure to save Alan’s life, Peter asks Tribal Bob for help but he gets nothing from Bob, other than a Mosquito carving as a clue to try and remove the venom. Thanks to Peter’s Frog penalty, the kids catch a Mosquito and bring it to Alan just in time to suck the Centipede venom out of his veins.

In the 2017 film, some Centipedes are spies for the corrupt Professor Van Pelt, some of which literally crawl around him thanks to his Zoopathic Mind Control given to him by the Jaguar's Eye. When the five avatars finally return the Jewel to the Jaguar Shrine, Van Pelt explodes into the creatures that surrounded him and flee from the blinding light.

An illustration of a Centipede appears on the closing Map of "Jumanji" closing credits, next to Hiram Garcia and Melvin Mar's credits.
