Chris Van Allsburg (born June 18, 1949) is an American children's author and illustrator. He wrote the 1981 picture book, Jumanji, which inspired the 1995 film Jumanji, which inspired the 1996 animated series and eventually the 2017 film, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle.
